There
is no shortage of suppliers in the Limousin region and
shopping around can save you a lot of money. Look out
for the promotions, which occur at various suppliers
throughout the year. Most of the large DIY stores have
sales - real ones - not like those in the UK! Favourites
are barhrooms, heating (normally in September / October),
electrical supplies (usually in August), and the Castorama
"Grand travaux" sale during the summer months
- everything from septic tanks to building blocks.
The large DIY stores and some of the larger building
suppliers have good, informative, websites which you
will find listed on the following pages. These include
details of current promotions and useful advice guides
on such things as electrical installation and regulations,
bathroom installation etc.
Don't
always assume that because a place is normally good
value, you can't get it cheaper from a specialist supplier.
I bought a window from Kargo which was a really good
price, only to find that Lapeyre (a specialist window
supplier) was actually doing a promotion on the particular
size of window I wanted. I could have had a better quality
window at a cheaper price - so shop around.
